Endoscopy is visualization of inside of the body cavity with a telescope provided with fibre optic light. Gynaecology involves use of laparoscope ( to visualize the inside of the abdominal cavity) and hysteroscope to visualize the inside of the uterine cavity.

Thermal balloon ablation
Thermal balloon ablation is destroying the inner lining of the uterus upto the basal layer using a balloon filled with dextrose and heated upto 87 degrees Celsius. It is used in patients with heavy menses as an alternative to hysterectomy. It has 95 % success rate in trials conducted world wide. Advantages are that it eliminates need for hysterectomy which is an invasive surgery, it is a short procedure of 15 minutes, there is no blood loss, there is no incision , patient can be discharged the same day.

NST and Fetal monitoring
During pregnancy a NON STRESS TEST is used to ascertain fetal well being . It is also known in lay man’s terms as fetal cardiogram.

Phototherapy
